Monitor App 2.0

Released 4 November 2026

WebMonitor: new EG look, light and dark themes

  • EG Retail branding: the app now shows the EG Retail logo and favicon and uses the EG design system (BrandSync), including the Roboto font.

  • Light theme by default, dark theme optional: you can switch between them from the header, the settings (gear) menu on phones, or the store picker. Each device remembers its choice, and a saved dark theme is in place from the first moment the page loads.

  • Clearer header and navigation: the Priority / By number / By area switch is now a set of tabs that also work with the keyboard. "Enable sound" stands out as the main button. On narrow screens the header gradually moves items into the gear menu, so the store name stays readable.

  • Consistent icons: text and emoji symbols are replaced with a matching set of EG icons.

  • Fixes:

    • The highlight flash on a checkout tile now covers the whole tile. It only plays for new events, so tiles no longer flash when you open a store or change view.

    • The "Reconnecting…" banner no longer flashes briefly every time the page loads. It appears only if the connection is gone for more than 2 seconds, and a slow first connection reads "Connecting…".

Monitor App title in the header

The header now shows the Monitor App logo and app name, centred, on both the store page and the store selection page, matching the Monitor App. On small screens, the header keeps the logo and app name.

Register tile, live sale, and controls

Each register tile now shows the register's status, and an orange bar when the cameras report a warning. Opening a register shows the live sale first, with its items, payments, and member, then the controls as buttons that open a sheet. The Current, Previous and History tabs show the last sales for that register. The Alarm log shows how long each control has been waiting.

Sales history per register

The register panel now has Current, Previous and History tabs. Current shows the live sale. Previous and History show the last two finished sales, each with its items, discounts, returns, totals and payment methods. Each register keeps its own history, and the tabs are available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.

Live cart figures and payments breakdown

The register panel now shows the same sale figures as the tablet app: a member icon when a loyalty member is on the sale, plus Average, Items and Total. They update live as items are scanned or removed, and the Previous and History tabs show each receipt's own figures.

Finished sales also show a payments breakdown. A Total row is followed by each payment as a deduction, labelled by payment method, such as Cash, Card, Gift card, Coupon, MobilePay, Swish or Vipps. The labels are available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.

Web Monitor: Handle controls from the register panel

Cashiers can now handle controls directly from the register panel, with the same actions as in the tablet app. Age controls can be approved with Approve age, above 25 years or a typed birth date, and an under-age date shows "Age control not approved" on every monitor. Notifications such as Blocked item and Substance items have Remove notification. When a sale needs a rescan of the whole basket, the control also shows Full control, and sending it finishes the sale on every monitor. A new Force control button in the panel header triggers a control on a running sale. The alarm log shows active controls with a wait timer, together with the controls already handled in the current sale. Available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.

Flight info and duty-free alerts

The live sale now shows the customer's flight when the register reports it: a plane icon with the number of boarding passes, then Flight, From, Dest and Flcode. The flight stays with the sale after it finishes. The four airport alerts (Unknown/Invalid flight, Quota exceeded, Sealing required and Signature required) now each have a single Done button. The labels and alert names are available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.

Fixed register layout per store

Each store can now have a fixed register layout, so every register always appears in the same place. Registers are arranged in groups, with rows, columns and empty spaces kept as set up. Groups can be collapsed, and the collapsed state is remembered on each device. Registers that are placed but not reporting show as "Not active", and registers that aren't in the layout appear in a separate "Not in layout" section.

Users with the new "Configure store layout" permission can build and change the layout in the Web Monitor. They can drag registers into place, import the layout from the old Monitor app, or paste it as JSON. Saved changes appear on all open monitors of the store without a reload.

The WebMonitor app is now available in English, Norwegian (Bokmål), Swedish, Danish and Finnish.

  • The language follows your Shell profile language. It is applied after sign-in, and changing it from the user menu is saved back to your Shell profile.

  • All texts, control titles and error messages are translated.

  • Numbers, amounts, times and dates are shown in the format of the selected language.

  • The wording of the 'substance items' and 'sale inactive' texts is now aligned with the tablet app.

Note: the Danish and Finnish texts (and parts of the Norwegian and Swedish ones) are drafts pending native-speaker review.

Store list from EG's central store service

The Web Monitor now gets each tenant's store list from EG's central store service, so stores no longer need to be set up separately for each tenant. After a restart or deploy, all stores and their live data come back by themselves, with no second restart. If the store service can't be reached at that moment, the Web Monitor tries again every 2 minutes until it succeeds. The store list is refreshed every 6 hours, so stores that are added or deactivated in the store service show up (or disappear) within that time, without restarting the app. If the store service is unavailable, stores that are already being monitored keep receiving live data, and the store list may show "temporarily unavailable" until the service is back. Adding a new tenant still needs one app restart.
