# Welcome view

In EG Self-service, customers can scan or select items and perform payments without cashier assistance

It is configurable if specific actions must be performed to start a new sale (scanning a boarding pass, adding a member etc.). If not, simply touch the screen or scan the first item to start and the [Sales view](/v1/docs/sales-view) opens.
