Article summary

Integration with ClearOn (supplementary module) support ClearOn version 2.2. The integration can be used both in Norway and Sweden.

ClearOn provides online and offline validation of discounts/coupons as well as online validation of gift cards.

Only supports online coupons

This integration only supports online coupons, however, and not gift cards.

When coupons are scanned in EG POS an online validation is performed against a web service provided by ClearOn.

The following Coupon types can be used:

  • Discount coupons

  • Payment cheques

  • Value cheques

  • Product cheques

  • Item cheques

  • Gift cards

  • Value coupons

  • Mobile coupons / M coupon

Registered coupons will be shown in the sales view and summarized in the payments view. The printed receipt will show the coupons by name and amount, as payment types.

As a general rule, all registered coupons must be approved using the ClearOn online validation service before the relevant receipt can be finished.

Coupon registration

Coupons can be registered either by scanning the barcode(s) or by manually registering the information. The coupons have one or two-dimensional barcodes.

Some of the coupons have two barcodes, in such cases both barcodes must be registered (EAN code and any Interleaved code). Register the EAN code first – this is the code that has a number under the barcode beginning with ”99”, followed by the other code.

If you are manually registering the coupon, dialogue boxes will be displayed to let you know what information is necessary at all times.

Enter the interleaved code. The unique/interleave code can either be scanned or entered manually.

The validation terms for the various coupons vary from type to type. Certain coupons relate to specific products or specific product groups.

A registered coupon highlighted in RED indicates that this has not been approved by the validation service. This may be because an insufficient quantity of items has been registered, the items are not from the correct item groups, the total amount is too low, etc.; the terms that apply are printed on the coupon.

A registered coupon highlighted in GREEN indicates that the coupon has been approved by the validation service.

Coupons are validated for all changes to item lines, both when items are registered or the quantity/price is changed, or when item lines are removed. The highlight color may therefore change several times during registration, as the terms of a coupon are met or not met.

Money back

Most coupons do not allow surplus amounts to be paid out in cash, also known as cashback (an exception may be Value coupons). If the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the items, the value of the coupon will be reduced so as to make the sale sum zero. The cashier will receive an alert describing the situation and must confirm that it is OK to continue with a reduced coupon value.

If the cashier selects No, the payment will not be made and the customer has the opportunity to adjust their purchase in order to better utilize the coupon or to save it for use at a later date.
